Director Risa Morimoto's mother, Noriko or Baba, a Japanese pet name for grandmother, suffered a severe stroke in 2001 leaving her with right side paresis. Through her rehabilitation, she discovered she is a brilliant left-handed painter. Baba shares her extraordinary life journey from war-torn Manchuria, China then to post-war Japan, and finally to 1960s New York through her striking watercolors. |
